gon imai
yasushi chrobane
sakichi otoya
Formed late in 2000. Actively started the projects in June, 2001.
During his student days, gon imai played and composed his music in his birth place and the city of the vibe, Kyoto. Graduating from the Kyoto University, he made his career at the world's largest musical instrument manufacturer and spent several years as a supervisor in product planning for electronic musical instruments and pro audio products.
The unit "mondo grosso" has acted as a pioneer in the movement of "danceable jazz", which was spiced with essence of Brazilian modern music, and yasushi chrobane, after leaving Kyoto University, started his career as the production center of the unit. Now he's a member of the unit "cosmic village", while composing for TV shows such as "Parappa the rapper" on TV.
The bay area in the Yokohama city is where saikichi otoya came from. He's "someone like a rabbit" as he explains himself.
These three met, talked and decided to make their music. They are aiming at experimental urban R&B, with their rhythm hardly be determined "which is live, which are samples and which are programmed", with their chord changes as rich as they were sometimes bizarre and with their melody lines quite simple and of beauty.
